Bruce has travelled widely thoughout the South Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Coastal Australia. He has lived on many islands but, principally, Norfolk Island and Raratonga for prolonged periods.

It is the manifold relationship and interaction between the people, the colour, the sea and the environment that provide the focus for his work.

His paintings are regularily exhibited in Auckland, Wellington, Sydney and the Gold Coast.

Bruce has also written and illustrated many books for children.   These t0o reflect aspects of the sea, the people and the environment of the South Pacific.

"My paintings and books reflect an endless fascination with our relationship to each other and without island environment. This sea and the shoreline provide a focus for life at its simplest and most pleasurable.

The sea has a curious hold over many of us, we are drawn to it, the day then it, we are see tossed, wave born and soothed by it. We watch it, walk by it, talk to it, we even write letters in the sands to be consumed by it. Some of us build boats beside it, push off Into it and sail away over it.

A shoreline is that mythical place between the known and the unknown, between land and sea, between dreams and the domestic.  It's a bit like a mountain top really."
